Specially designed for individual tuition or small groups Linguistica's courses are of a high standard and are specially designed for individual tuition or small groups of eight participants maximum. They are carefully structured to adapt to individual needs and objectives, allowing each person to improve his/her French language skills. Methodological approach Our methodological approach to language teaching enables the learner to gain competence in oral and written comprehension and expression by acquiring the structure of the language through a wide range of communicative activities based on tried and tested pedagogical methods. Teaching materials You will be provided with all course materials necessary. They are included in the course fees. Newspapers, magazines, books A selection of French newspapers, magazines and books will be available on loan during your stay. Linguistica Linguistica was created by
Joëlle Sampy who spent 10
years doing research in French language
and Linguistics at Ph.D. level and has taught
these subjects in French and British universities.
She taught French as a foreign language
at the INSEAD in Fontainebleau (one of
the world's top business schools). As a
lexicographer, she worked on several French
monolingual dictionaries (for example the
Grand Robert de la langue française
in 9 volumes which is the French language
reference) and on bilingual dictionaries
like the Collins-Robert French-English
Dictionary which is also the reference
in its field. Joëlle Sampy has also
worked on many educational French language
textbooks for a number of major French
publishers (Hachette, Didier, Nathan, etc.).
She has also translated several linguistics
books from English to French, notably Essays
on Form and Interpretation by the well-known
American linguist Noam Chomsky. All tutors who may intervene are all highly qualified, experienced and specialists in teaching French as a foreign language. They are currently teaching, or have taught in French universities.
